Regular observance highlights efforts to combat HIV/AIDS. Each event is also an occasion to show support for those living with HIV and to remember those who have died from the infection. HIV/AIDS Awareness events are designed to motivate all adults to get tested for HIV and know their status. Also they focus on raising awareness among people and reducing the risk of infection. The campaign delivers the message that HIV testing should be a part of everyone’s regular health routine to keep ourselves and our community healthy. We provide an opportunity to educate communities about the importance of HIV prevention, research, HIV testing, and the issues for particular population groups
Although antiretroviral therapy has transformed HIV from a nearly always fatal infection into a manageable chronic condition, HIV remains a global health threat. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2017, worldwide approximately 36.9 million people were living with HIV, an estimated 940,000 people died from AIDS-related illnesses, and about 1.8 million people were newly infected with HIV.
Let’s Stop HIV Together, raises awareness that we all have a role to play in stopping HIV stigma.
